Hello! Welcome to #selftaughtkusinero where I dish up and share my most recent recipe experiments and discoveries.
I am no native of the kitchen but I've always had a feeling that I have a knack for cooking. I cook to de-stress. I feel most relaxed in the company of ingredients waiting to be transformed into something delicious.
While I have no formal training in the culinary arts, I have Professor Free Time*, my mom, and the information god Google for instructors.
This is my own way of getting that 10,000 hours of practice to mastery (or perhaps a restaurant business?)
To kick off this blog, I have prepared Coco Mucho Balls. This is me congratulating myself for finally having the balls to start this long overdue project.
*Coined by my former work colleague, Kevin Riel Gepaya. Refers to the more reliable method of learning skills with initiative and curiosity as motivation.
The Recipe
Coconut mixtureCoconut meat [from one coconut]
Butter [50-70 grams]
All purpose flour [200grams]
Salt [a pinch]
Sugar [two table spoons]
Powder Coating
Cinnamon [a couple of dashes]
Powdered chocolate drink [one pack]
Powdered cereal drink vanilla flavor [two packs]
Directions
1. In a pan, melt butter. Add flour, salt, and sugar. You may add water if mixture gets too pasty. Stir until flour is completely dissolved and mixture has achieved soupy consistency.
2. Fold in coconut meat to the mixture. Let it cool for a minute.
3. Form balls and lined them up on aluminum foil. Refrigerate to set up.
3. In a bowl, combine the powdered chocolate, powdered cereal drink and cinnamon.
4. Once the coco balls have already set up, dredge them in the powder coating.
5. Refrigerate again.
6. Enjoy.
Makes about 30-50 balls.
