Who doesn't love ice cream?
This frozen fare is pleasure in a cup, a cone, or a tub if you are that addicted to it. Ice cream is a treat to the palate and the heart. Usually, it is the company of choice for inconsolable souls and the preferred dessert for ending indulgent meals.
To me ice cream is an expression of love. My friends treat me to scoops of vanilla ice cream to cheer me up, to cool me down, or to mess me up [Haha!] It doesn't matter whether it was scored from ubiquitous sources: Jollibee, McDo, Ministop, 7-Eleven, Family Mart, Dairy Queen, and Manong sorbetero, or purchased from unbelievably pricey brands--ice cream is ice cream, and forever will be one of the most beloved desserts of all time.
But of course, as much as we want to eat ice cream everyday, that is unwise. Unless you plan to have a sumo wrestler's waistline and injectable insulin for vitamins.
So what to do when you crave for ice cream but can't have it[because you had it for the nth time today]? You can yell #YOLO while giving in to the temptation. Or do a Martha Stewart and create your homemade version of the frozen treat.
If that sounds appetizing and exciting to you, here's a simple recipe of Guava Popsicle you can try concocting. This Popsicle is packed with Vitamin C and other nutrients for a healthier you.
Don't worry if you find yourself snacking on this Popsicle everyday. Go on, get your fix of this frozen treat. Your future self will thank you for it.
The Recipe
Ripe Guavas
Banana
Pineapple juice
Water
Directions
1. Remove seeds from the guava fruit. Soak them in water to extract the flavor as much as possible. Strain to get guava water.
2. In a blender, combine guava water, guava fruit, and banana. Add sugar if desired [but it would be healthier if you don't].
3. Fill the popsicle containers just halfway with the guava-banana mixture first. Refrigerate. Add the pineapple juice and freeze again.
4. Enjoy.
