The Drink For Your #Hugot Moments: Ponkan Calamansi Sangria

So this is trending now:

A girl shares her (bitter)sweet--full of intense feelings--guide to cooking pastillas.

Food as metaphor for expressing one's feelings is not a new thing. But I guess the contemporary language of #hugot makes it more relatable to this generation of love-struck, iPad-toting romantics.

But when it comes to the elegant way of professing one's love using food as metaphor, we can look up to Amy Lowell.  One of my favorite Lowell poems is A Decade. Check the audio recording of this poem at Poem Hunter.

This is just my fifth day of blogging since I put up #selftaughtkusinero, but it feels like it's been over a month now. Not complaining though. I am actually looking forward to sharing more recipe stories.

Cheers to everything food, love, and love for food! Let's drink to that.

The Recipe

Red Wine [3 cups]
Ponkan Orange [1 cup of juice]
Calamansi Juice [1 cup]
Sugar [5 table spoons]

1. Mix all liquid ingredients.
2. Stir in sugar. Adjust amont depending on sweetness/bitterness desired.
3. Add Ponkan orange pulps for texture.
4. Serve chilled (do not put ice).
